Frequently Asked Questions: Wedding Transportation
How far in advance should we book wedding transportation?
Nine to six months for the guest shuttle, which is the scarce vehicle. Six to three months for the bridal party and the getaway car. For a peak fall or spring Saturday in the Lowcountry, the large vehicles are gone earlier than couples expect, often by the previous spring. Our full fall wedding transportation timeline walks through what to book and when, month by month.
What size shuttle do we need?
It depends less on total guest count than on how many guests are staying in hotels and how far the venue is. A vehicle running a fifteen-minute loop can move several times its own capacity in an hour. A vehicle running to a Charleston venue can move its capacity once. Tell us the venue and the hotel, and we will size it properly rather than upselling you.
Which Lowcountry venues do you serve?
Brookgreen Gardens, Atalaya Castle, Wachesaw Plantation, Pine Lakes Country Club, Caledonia Golf & Fish Club, DeBordieu Colony, Pawleys Plantation and Litchfield Plantation, among others. Several of those Lowcountry venues have access constraints worth knowing about before you book a vehicle size.
Are there venues where a large vehicle will not fit?
Yes, and it is worth checking early. DeBordieu Colony is gated and requires vehicles and drivers to be on the access list in advance. Litchfield Plantation and Pawleys Plantation both have narrow approach roads. Brookgreen Gardens has a controlled arrival route. None of these rule out a shuttle, but they all change the plan if you find out late.
Can one vehicle do the bridal party and then the guest shuttle?
Sometimes, and we will tell you honestly when it does not work. The two runs usually overlap: the bridal party needs the vehicle when the guest shuttle needs to be cycling. Where the timings genuinely allow it, using one vehicle is the cheaper answer and we will say so.
What is your wet-weather plan?
Hurricane season in the Lowcountry runs through 30 November, so this is a real question for a fall wedding. We build an alternative route into every wedding run sheet and we hold a contact number for two people who are not the couple. If Highway 17 closes, somebody who is not you gets the call.
What do you need from us before the day?
A run sheet thirty days out with pickup addresses, times, two contact numbers, and the vehicle access details for the venue. A final headcount one week out. Late RSVPs are the single most common reason a comfortable shuttle becomes a full one. Call 843-256-6098 to start the run sheet.
